- It may be necessary to add a fungicide to remove heavy accumulations of fungi and algae.
- Existing coatings/ membranes have to be inspected, cleaned and mechanically ground to achieve a sound, gripping substrate.
- In case of bad adhesion to the substrate, existing coatings have to be removed.
- In case of application on clay tiles, roughen the surface by grinding and then apply the Glossy® 1001® Paints Cool Coat System.
- All uneven surfaces should be properly treated by suitable material to get a plain surface.
- In case of application on an existing bituminous membrane, the following procedure has to be followed :
- Remove existing bituminous membrane completely by mechanical scarification or by any other effective mechanical means.
- After ensuring that the existing membrane has been cleaned properly, apply suitable Glossy® 1001 Paints Primer/ Solvent based or Water based on the surface on which the system is to be
- Sprinkle a layer of sand on the primered surface immediately and allow it to dry for atleast 12 hours.
2. REPAIR WORKS OF RECTIFYING WATER LEAKAGES AND BEAUTIFYING THE OLD METAL ROOF:
- Stripped, loose or missing fasteners should be replaced with the next larger diameter fastener size.

PRECAUTIONS & LIMITATIONS
For GI & Metal Roof Coating Systems:
- Always add 10% to the total roof area to compensate for panel profile.
- Examine the roof for areas of heavy rusting and determine the areas.
- Look for signs of ponding water and other indicators of insufficient slope and drainage.
- Determine and note surface conditions and leak areas including the cause and severity.
- Long-term performance of any roofing system may be affected by periodic ponded water.
- Correct fastener tightening is important for error free skylight sheet installation.
- Apply Acetic Cure silicone sealant in the bottom and top corners of skylight sheet to seal leaks around for weather sealing applications.
- Fix it with galvanised screw and seal the outer corners with PU sealant followed by 40 GSM Geo textile fabric to make the sheet joints Leak-proof.
- Ponded water areas should be corrected to provide positive drainage prior to applying of Glossy® 1001® Paints Cool Coat System.
- It can be applied on sound cement screed roofs & terraces as heat reflective & protective coating.
- Do not coat when roof surface temperatures are 7°C below and above 40°C. High surface temperatures can vaporize the moisture within the coatings causing small blisters and inadequate adhesion.
- Inspect applied product after each application step to ensure proper application techniques and compliance with coverage rate minimums.
- To ensure recommended DFT, use consumption coverage method.
- Do not apply during rains.
For Concrete Screed Roof :
- Existing roof systems to be visually inspected for conditions that may adversely affect adhesion of performance of newly installed products.
- Damaged or hollow portions, sharp edges, etc. must be cut and repaired with a polymer-modified mortar using Glossy®
- All surface cracks up to 5 mm width should be filled up with Glossy®
- All new concrete screed must saw cuts or create control joints in concrete screed and joints should be filled with Glossy® PU Sealant.
- All corners, gaps, joints, drain outlet areas shall be coated with two extra coats.
- Do not apply if rain is expected within 48 hours after application.
- Do not apply to flat surfaces with poor drainage or where ponding water will exist.
- The product is designed only for foot traffic and not vehicular or movement of machinery or equipment.
- Do not apply Glossy® 1001® Paints Cool Coat System over expansion or moving joints directly.
- To achieve the full proof waterproofing, parapet walls should be covered with Glossy’s® Gloss-O-Guard: Advanced Water Proofing Polymer to prevent from Dampness and Wetness and 1001® Gloss Preg Multishield Coating (Water Based), a Silicone Base Water Repellent Coating, as required.
- For Water proofing treatment for stone, brick, and concrete surfaces, including Cement painted surfaces, mortar, Clay brick surfaces, Natural and artificial stones like Marble, Dholpur, Sand Stone, All Porous Stone, etc., Mangalore tiled roofs, Corrugated AC sheet roofing, etc, use Glossy® 1001® Weathergold 2000 Pro, a silicon based water repellent coating.
- Durability of coating is determined by the application process, the weather conditions during and after application, the suitability & quality of the workmanship and the total applied coating thickness.
- Do not apply if the surface temperature is below 10°C or greater than 35°C, or likely to fall below 10°C during the application or drying period.
- Keep the material in closed tightly sealed containers when not in use.
- To ensure recommended DFT use forced consumption method
CLEANING OF TOOLS :
- Clean all tools and application equipment with clean water or with warm soapy water immediately after use.
- Hardened / cured material can only be removed mechanically.
- Before the coating gets dry, clean hand tools, spillage, etc., with warm soapy water.
- If the coating has dried, clean your hands with a waterless hand
- Soften the dried film on tools with mineral spirits, then scrape clean.
- When using mineral spirits, exercise safe practices concerning flammability and
NOTE:
